        Ethnic Indian Fashion Dress-Bridal Wear

Weddings are an affair of a lifetime in most cases of even the tech savvy modern times.Bridal wear is an important part of the wedding preparation activities. Each married woman from India is very sentimental about her wedding dress and keeps it as safe as she would nurture her husband.Indian bridal wear is rich and varied throughout the subcontinent. South Indian states namely Karnataka, Andhra, Kerala and Tamil Nadu have silk as the fabric of their wedding wear. While the groom wears silk dhoti, the bride wears a silk saree.
Unlike north Indian states that stress on red in the silk sarees owing to its link with fertility, south Indian brides choose wedding sarees with interesting colours. To start mentioning about uniquebridal dress, women from Kerala wear white silk sarees draped in the mundum nerathiyum style. Telugu speaking women use silk sarees dipped in yellow colour during the moment of wedding solemnization. Gujarati women wear Panetar sarees which are their last saree from their parents. These Panetar sarees are in red and white. Bengali brides sarees are in full red. North Indian women may wear elaborately decorated sarees or lehengas which are usually in net, georgette or chiffon fabric.

        Ethnic Indian Fashion Dress-Churidars

Churidars, or more properly churidar pyjamas, are tightly fitting trousers worn by both men and women in South Asia and Central Asia. They are similar to skinny jeans but are made of fabric other than denim. Churidars are a variant of the common salwar pants. Salwars are cut wide at the top and narrow at the ankle. Churidars narrow more quickly, so that contours of the leg are revealed. They are usually cut on the bias (at a 45 degree angle to the grain of the fabric) which makes them naturally stretchy. Stretch is important when pants are closefitting. They are also longer than the leg and sometimes finish with a tightly fitting buttoned cuff at the ankle. The excess length falls into folds and appears like a set of bangles resting on the ankle (hence 'churidar'; 'churi': bangle, 'dar': like). The churidar is usually worn with a kameez (a form-fitted overshirt) by women or a kurta (a loose overshirt) by men, or they can form part of a bodice and skirt ensemble, as seen in the illustration of 19th century Indian women wearing churidar with a bodice and a transparent overskirt. Traditionally attired Kathak dancers, from northern India, still wear churidar with a wide skirt and a tight bodice; when the dancers twirl, the leg contours can be discerned -- as can be seen in many Bollywood movies featuring Kathak dancing.

        Ethnic Indian Fashion Dress-Salwar Kameez

The salwar kameez is another form of popular dress for females. It consists of loose trousers (the salwar) topped by a long loose shirt (the kameez). It is often mispronounced as "salwar kameez" or simply "salwar". It originates from the Muslim invaders from Turkey and Afghanistan. For a long time it was considered a "Muslim dress" but now has become popular all across India, as well as other South Asian countries. Due to its Muslim origin, it is very common in Pakistan and Afganistan. It is commonly worn with a narrow scarf called a dupatta, which is used to cover the head. The salwar kameez is most common in the northwestern part of India.
